“We had no idea the food would be this good”

Yes, it’s a remark frequently made by our guests who marvel at the breadth and quality of food presented over four glorious days.

Make no mistake.  The breathtaking scenery & wildlife you will see on our tour is front and centre of the Southern Ocean Walk. Vast panoramas with hardly a soul in sight, ever changing landscapes that range from dense messmate forests to secluded beaches blessed with abundant wildlife are just some of the magic ingredients.

Knowledgeable local guides bring the landscape to life, offering rich insights that add depth to your journey.

Needless to say, food is a key ingredient in this journey.

Your body is your vehicle, so you have to keep your engine running when you call on it right? Eating the right sorts of foods will keep your energy up and drinking enough fluid will help to keep you hydrated whilst you are walking.

Over the years we have refined our walk to ensure the right foods are served on trail that are not just nutritious and delicious but also travel well and provide the right energy at the right time.

However, that doesn’t mean you can’t tantalize your taste buds along the way.

After a rewarding day of hiking, there’s nothing quite like sitting down to a meal of regional cuisine, meticulously sourced, lovingly prepared, and beautifully presented. Every bite is a celebration of the local flavours of the Fleurieu Peninsula, from land to sea.

Not only does this ensure unparallelled freshness of the food we serve with very low food miles, but it also supports local growers who receive a decent return for their efforts.

And what would a good meal be without a perfectly paired drink? Our wines and ales come from the renowned McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek wine regions, as well as several boutique cellar doors just a short distance from the walk. “Eat well, eat local” isn’t just a saying here—it’s our commitment to providing you with the best the region has to offer.

We can’t wait to share this culinary journey with you. Plan now to join us in 2025 and prepare for a tasty tour de force that will nourish your body and delight your senses, all while immersing you in one of Australia’s most spectacular landscapes.
