Why are our guided walks different?

Anyone who enjoys exploring our country’s fabulous natural landscapes will know that there are many guided walks on offer throughout Australia. From mountain ranges to coastal vistas and everything in between we are blessed with a wonderful range of trails.

Many companies offer a number of walks in different states across Australia. This can be logistically challenging especially in relation to securing knowledgeable local guides with an in depth understanding of the local environment and conditions.

So what makes the Southern Ocean Walk special?

As a family owned and operated business we have chosen to focus on one trail, The Southern Ocean Walk on the Fleurieu Peninsula just 90 minutes south of Adelaide.  It has been our home for over 30 years (We even got married in Deep Creek National Park!) Not surprisingly we have developed an intimate knowledge of the trail, its flora and fauna as well as the local history. This gives our guests context and a broader understanding of the region making this one of the most comprehensive guided walks in Australia.

Our tour groups never exceed 8 participants which ensures a personalized experience for each guest.  Experience has taught us that this is the sweet spot as far as group size is concerned and guests quickly bond with fellow walkers to establish a cordial dynamic both on and off trail.

We like to think of our guests as close family and treat them accordingly.

But it doesn’t end there.  Being a small business also means we have been able to source a wide range of foods produced locally to offer a bespoke dining experience like no other.  From the pre-dinner canapes to the wine paired 3-course dinners each night guests are able to enjoy a culinary experience to remember. Once again local knowledge comes in to play as we have established a wide network of small scale growers & suppliers who take great pride in their produce.

We are also blessed with a support team of local staff who share our enthusiasm and help make our walk the personal experience that it is.  But perhaps the last word should go to our past guests who have been so kind as to post a review.  Here are some snippets:
